A Kimbra Celebration! - Part One: Finding The Way

In exactly one week from today, Kimbra's sophomore album, The Golden Echo, will be celebrating its two-year anniversary (well, in North America at least)! To commemorate this occasion, I am going to showcase Kimbra's career for each day leading up to August 19th! As you could probably tell, I'm a huge Kimbra fan. She's one of my all-time favourites, and The Golden Echo is one of my treasured records. I'm hoping that by the end of this week, all you readers (and listeners) will also appreciate just how monumental she is. Moreover, you'll get a specific selection of quirky, fun music videos that truly capture that wonderful Kimbra spirit! Are we ready?!

Let's talk Kimbra!

Kimbra Lee Johnson was born in New Zealand in 1990 and began writing songs around the age of 10. As you can see from the video, she had been enthusiastic about projecting her voice early on in her life. This is important to remember, as you will see her evolve in the other parts of this celebration, and her enthusiasm gets more and more infectious. She never loses that enthusiasm. In fact, she gains more and more of it as she goes along. A vibrant personality to be sure!

After having developed her voice for a few years, Kimbra incorporated her guitar knowledge into her songwriting and naturally fused the two together. We will be exploring her first music videos with the guitar, which introduce us to her songwriting talents, in the second part of this celebration!
