Frusic - Week of July 1st, 2016

I can't believe June is over already! It was a month that brought us some grand ol' music. But here comes July, ushering in a new month of wondrous new releases. There are some doozies to start off this month, so let's get to them!

Fates Warning - Theories Of Flight (InsideOut Music)

Progressive metal titans Fates Warning will release their twelfth album, Theories Of Flight, on July 1st. Enjoying a bit of a renaissance period, the band brings the thunderous dual-guitar work and soaring melodies on an album just as fierce as anything in their discography. For a veteran band of their genre, this is an album that demands your attention!

Bat For Lashes - The Bride (The Echo Label)

One look at the album cover and you can tell that you're in for quite a captivating experience with Natasha Khan's (aka Bat For Lashes) new record. I mean, it's called The Bride and it's an album that follows the story of a woman who loses her fiancé on her wedding day. You'll want to check out how the story unfolds.

Maxwell - blackSUMMERS'night (Columbia Records)

Who doesn't need some smooth R&B in their lives? Maxwell proves that some things are worth waiting for with his new album, blackSUMMERS'night. This album will move you emotionally and physically, daring you to sit still with bouncy grooves and lush tempos decorating the 12-song effort.

Blood Orange - Freetown Sound (Domino Recording)

Dev Hynes is back with an all-new effort under his moniker, Blood Orange. Calling it "an album for the under-appreciated," Hynes has created his most eclectic, personal album yet with Freetown Sound. It has pop elements, soulful refrains, and harmonies that intertwine with sensitive subject matter. The result is a stunning journey, and an album that should not be missed.
