Frusic - Week of June 10th, 2016

Another week, another great Friday for music releases. I'm going to skip over the new Paul McCartney best-of collection, Pure McCartney, as he's pretty much well known at this point... ha. But let's check out the rest!

Sumac - What One Becomes (Thrill Jockey)

The crushing, post-metal super-trio releases their sophomore album this Friday. Coming after their impressive debut album, The Deal, What One Becomes promises to be another pounding, visceral entry for the band. Consisting of only five tracks and one song over 17-minutes in length, What One Becomes will serve a hearty meal for those hoping for some punishing, experimental metal.

Diarrhea Planet - Turn To Gold (Infinity Cat)

Add this album to your collection if you're looking for something that is just pure fun. Turn To Gold isn't some thought-provoking work about the metaphysical properties one encounters during their deeply introspective moments (although, those albums can be fun too - just in a much different way). This is a punk-rock/alternative album that just has a lot of fun and will make you want to jam out. It's as simple as that. Plus, they're called Diarrhea Planet. How could you not check this out?!

Garbage - Strange Little Birds (STUNVOLUME)

This band really needs no introduction. Releasing their first album since the wonderful Not Your Kind Of People in 2012, Garbage are set to follow that up (finally) with Strange Little Birds. Frontwoman Shirley Manson has said that this album is spiritually similar to their 1995 debut, so we will have to see if that's how it sounds. But it's Garbage. So, you'll want to check it out either way!

There you have a few of my picks for the week! There are always more albums, and as usual, I'm always up for some suggestions. I'm just glad I could do one of these weekly updates so I could include bands called Garbage and Diarrhea Planet in the same article. You're welcome.
